Nighthawks Have a Victorious Week!

On Wednesday, January 18, the girls Nighthawk Basketball team celebrated their first win since joining the Elk Island Catholic Schools basketball league last year.

In a fast-paced game, the Nighthawks took an early lead and kept it to the end resulting in a 28-16 victory over the Holy Spirit Heat B team. Congratulations Nighthawks!

The boys Nighthawks basketball team also had a solid win against the Holy Spirit B team on Thursday, January 19. Like the girls, the boys team established an early lead and after the four quarters won with a score of 64-11.

Congratulations to both teams. Go Nighthawks!

NHS Elementary Choir Begins

The Elementary Choir will continue practicing weekly until later in the spring.

Girls Nighthawk Basketball Season Begins

The Girls Nighthawk Basketball team had their first game of the season against the Holy Redeemer Crusaders.

The girls played hard  and although they probably shot as much as the other team they couldn’t score as many hoops and therefore lost 44-20.

Good luck in your next game, and sink those shots!

Grade 5/6 Nighthawks Season Begins

On Friday, January 13, the Grade 5/6 Nighthawks mixed basketball team had a min-tournament at Holy Redeemer School in Ardrosson. The evening of basketball gave our grade 5/6 team an opportunity to play against other schools to help develop their basketball skills.

The games were 30 minutes long and no score was kept. Because player substitutions occurred every 3-4 minutes, all players had plenty of time on the court.

It was wonderful to watch our young athletes play with such heart, sportsmanship and pride. It was also exciting to finally watch these young players in real-game action. Based on our performance, our junior high teams can expect some wonderful talent coming up the ranks!

Most importantly, the players had a fun time playing a fun sport.

Thank you to Holy Redeemer School for hosting the min-tournament, and to the Elk Island Catholic Schools Sports Council for including us in these rewarding events.
